Most excavation works on first segment of Dyurtyuli — Achit road in Bashkortostan completed

This 140 km long section will be part of the M-12 Vostok Highway extension to Yekaterinburg. The builders have already excavated more than 17 million cubic meters of soil out of the planned 19.8 million cubic meters, as well as completed the construction of embankments with a total volume of more than 12.6 million cubic meters.

Work is underway at all 56 road structures, bridges and overpasses. The main structure of the first stage is a ten-span bridge across the Belaya River, over 813 meters long. Now the bridge builders are engaged in the arrangement of grillages, beams, foundation blocks and reinforcement of the superstructure. Auxiliary structures and devices for the installation of the superstructure are also being assembled.

Meanwhile, work is underway on the arrangement of culverts, rearrangement of utilities, construction of storm water drainage and lighting towers. In the aggregate, over 5,000 people and over 1,500 units of machinery operate at the site.

The section of the Dyurtyuli – Achit Highway in Bashkiria is one of three stages of the large-scale construction of the extension of the M-12 Vostok Highway to Yekaterinburg. The total length of the expressway from Dyurtyuli to Achit will be 275 km; it will run across the territory of three regions: the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Perm Krai and Sverdlovsk Region.

The new highway will improve traffic safety, shift freight traffic out of populated areas, reduce travel time and provide high-speed connections to major regional centers. In addition, new jobs will be created, the investment attractiveness of the regions in the highway area of influence will increase, and an impetus will be given to the development of tourism.

In parallel with the road construction, work is underway to create roadside infrastructure. The new highway will feature 10 modern multifunctional road service zones, where motorists would be able not only refuel their vehicles, but also relax, have a snack and buy essential goods.
The Moscow to Kazan section of M-12 Vostok was opened for traffic in December 2023. The road was built as part of the national project “Upgrading Transport Infrastructure”. The entire M-12 Highway, from the town of Dyurtyuli to the village of Achit, is scheduled to open for traffic by late 2024.
