29 engineering structures will be built at the 80th km of stage 1 of the M-12 Highway in the Vladimir Region: 24 bridges and flyovers, 3 cattle passes, and 2 pedestrian underground crossings. Works are currently underway at 27 structures.
At 17 sites builders have started the initial construction stage - installation of a pile foundation; at 10 facilities test piles are undergoing dynamic or static testing.
Reinforcement and concreting of the pile foundations of the supports were completed at 12 engineering structures, 2 more sites are at the final stage. The supports are completed for 8 engineering structures.
Superstructure beams have been installed at 5 structures. Installation of the superstructures themselves will soon begin at 2 engineering structures.
Concrete work has been completed at all cattle passes, and waterproofing of construction sites is currently underway. An underground pedestrian crossing, which will be located at the intersection of the M-12 and M-7 Highways, is at the final stage. The crossing itself has been built, the site is being backfilled, and rough finishing will soon begin.
It is planned to fully complete this work at 29 structures by the middle of the second quarter of 2022.
This includes bridges across the Peksha River, the Bolshaya Lipnya River. and the Volga River. Temporary bridges have been erected to allow the equipment access to these points.
Excavation work continues on the main route of the 1st construction stage of the M-12 Highway: construction of an embankment and a sand bed, laying a geo-drain, as well as verge cutting. Work is underway on the 71st km out of 80 km of the main route of the road. In less than a year builders cut down to grade 38 km of subgrade, 24 km of sand bed, 16.5 km of stone sand bed. 12 km of the top layer of the base of the asphalt concrete pavement were laid prior to the winter season. Since the beginning of works 6.2 million m3 of sand and 951 thousand m2 of crushed stone-sand mixture have been used to construct the embankment.
Work continues on the reconstruction of communications that fall within the road construction. At the moment, construction and installation work within the road has been completed on 90 networks out of 101. To date, 52 out of 55 communication networks, 12 out of 12 power supply networks, 3 out of 6 water conduits and sewers, 7 out of 7 gas pipelines, 1 out of 4 reclamation systems, 2 out of 2 outdoor electric lighting networks, and 15 out of 21 Russian Railways networks are completed.
Construction of 3 production facilities and 6 temporary material storage sites has been completed in full. The construction headquarter is equipped at the Annino facility. Asphalt Concrete Plant No. 1 was installed at the Pokrov facility, a ramp was equipped for the acceptance of inert materials from railway cars, and a construction headquarter was built. In addition, 2 dormitories for workers were built. At the Uvarovo facility, construction of a headquarter and 3 dormitories, where workers already live, has been completed. Asphalt Concrete Plant No. 2 has been installed near the village of Vasilyevka, the site for inert materials has been 100% completed.
4 plants will operate, 2 of which have already been launched, for production of the asphalt concrete mixture at stage 1 of the M-12 Highway construction. Currently, assembly of Asphalt Concrete Plant No. 3 is being carried out; the launch is scheduled for the spring of this year. The M-12 will be the first technical category highway with 4 traffic lanes, 2 in each direction. The SP 32-E asphalt concrete mixture is used to construct the upper layer of the carriageway subgrade, as it is suitable for heavy traffic roads and designed for extreme loads. It contains a unique binder specifically designed for climate conditions of the Moscow and Vladimir Regions.
Every day about 1,500 people are involved in the work, including workers, machine operators, drivers, engineering and technical workers, as well as over 340 pieces of equipment: excavators, loaders, bulldozers, rollers, motor graders, pile drivers, dump trucks, etc.
Stage 1 of construction of the road with a length of 80 km runs from the intersection with the A-108 Moscow Big Ring federal highway to the intersection with the M-7 Volga federal highway. Formation of a seamless backbone network of highways complies with the basic principles laid down in the Strategy for Spatial Development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025, approved by the order of the Government of the Russian Federation. The project customer is the State Company Russian Highways. Construction is being carried out by Stroytransgaz Group. The designer is GORKA Group.
