By the end of the year, over 70 km of highway in Kherson Region to be redeveloped

Road builders of the Russian Highways State Company along with contractors started installing asphalt concrete pavement at the Novotroitskoye-Chaplinka motorway section.

22.5 km of binder, or about 40 thousand tons of asphalt concrete mixture, have already been laid.

Meanwhile, work is underway along the entire road to clear the right of way, remove the old road surface, and repair culvert structures.

Apart from that, it is still necessary to beautify the area adjacent to the road, build public transport stops and sidewalks in residential areas. Once the pavement is installed, workers will start equipping the repaired motorway with road signs and markings, in compliance with the safety standards applicable in the Russian Federation.

About 70 workers and 40 units of assorted construction equipment are employed in the repairs.

The roadway is part of an alternative access route to Crimea. Following the completion of major repairs, the highway will relieve traffic congestion at the Chongar checkpoint by allowing it to flow to the Armyansk checkpoint.
