There are plans to produce up to one million transponders in Russia per year

A memorandum of cooperation and organization of the production of transponders in the Russian Federation was signed within the Transport Week 2020.

The document was signed by Dmitry Dunaev, Director General of Avtodor-Toll Roads LLC (APD), and Andre Laux, Chief Operating Officer of the Executive Board of Kapsch TrafficCom AG.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Igor Kozubenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the State Company Avtodor, and Michael Gschnitzer, Vice President of Strategic Sales, Kapsch TrafficCom AG.

The memorandum provides for localization of transponder production in Russia already in 2021. Preliminary negotiations were held to determine the site where the production of domestic devices will be organized. There are plans to produce from 500 thousand to one million transponders annually.

This should meet the needs of Russian motorists who prefer to save time and use toll roads. This year alone, the length of the toll highway network, which is under the trust of the State Company Avtodor, has grown by almost 200 kilometers.

Igor Kozubenko noted the importance of a long-term cooperation. In his turn, Dmitry Dunaev said that the memorandum was an excellent prospect for the development of both parties.

Avtodor-Platnye Dorogi is the largest issuer of transponders in Russia. More than 1,500,000 transponders are distributed by APD of 2,500,000 transponders that motorists are using now to travel on the toll highway network in Russia.
