Construction of an overground pedestrian crossing on M-4 "Don" Highway completed

The builders have completed the construction of an overground pedestrian crossing at the 1050th km of the M-4 "Don" Highway near the village of Stepnoy and the Almaz Dacha Non-Profit Partnership (DNT) in Rostov Region.

The new pedestrian crossing will allow residents of the nearby settlements of Zolotoy Kolos, Kovalevka, Stepnoy and DNP Almaz to safely cross the federal highway.

Previously, this section of the road was equipped with a traffic light and a zebra crossing. This significantly slowed down the traffic on the federal highway with a speed limit for cars of 40 km/h on the section. From now on the traffic jams will be ruled out, and pedestrians will freely and safely cross the federal highway.

Durable polycarbonate with a special darkened film was used for the outer coating of the crossing. That film will not allow hot sun rays to penetrate inside and heat metal elements, therefore, the temperature inside the crossing itself will be comfortable for pedestrians.

The crossing is equipped with entrance ramps for people with disabilities. The total length of the new facility, including ramps and turntables, is about 100 meters. Of these, the length of the overground crossing itself is about 50 meters. The height clearance above the road is 5.5 meters. The passage width is more than 2 meters. The material of the superstructure is reinforced concrete.
